Fall has adorned the Central Coast and as I drive around town, I can’t help but see the leaves changing. It is a beautiful time of year. While there is a chill in the air both at night and in the morning, the sun shines brightly during the day. It is a perfect time of year to visit the winery. Just picture sitting on our patio enjoying a wine and cheese tasting during the week or having lunch on the weekends. We have a wonderful staff to help you out. While some of the faces are recognizable, we have added some amazing new faces as well.
Our Tasting Room Manager, Joe Kowalski joined the team this Summer. While not a native to Paso Robles he has lived here since 2012. Joe has two daughters that he loves to spoil, wrote a book about the history of Lake Nacimiento, and is artistically gifted. Joe has a passion for wine and customer service, which makes him the perfect person to head up our tasting room. His favorite wine is our 2018 Estate Petite Sirah.
Pat is our Tasting Room Assistant Manager. She has been here for two and a half years making your visit special and unique. Just check out all the rave reviews on Yelp. She has a deep knowledge of Paso Robles wines and a keen eye for decorating the tasting room throughout the year for the holidays. When she is not at the winery, she loves to walk her dogs or go to Pilates. Her favorite wine is our 2017 Heritage Cabernet Sauvignon.
You can’t miss Caroline when you are at the winery; she is always so peppy! She has an accent and may make you guess where she is from. Hint: she loves IKEA. Not only is she well versed in our wine portfolio, she also has a vast knowledge about our cheeses in the tasting room. When she is not at work, she is nesting at home getting ready for the birth of her baby girl. Her daughter will be joining a home filled with bunnies and kittens. Her favorite wine (when she’s not pregnant) is our 2015 Estate Cuore Della Vigna.
Our resident Sommelier is Walt, who comes to us from Colorado. He has been here since October 2020. Walt is well-traveled and spends his time studying wine. His background is in the restaurant business, which lends itself to running our dinner events throughout the year. This year, he was also a part of our Harvest crew! Checking brix and fermentation temperatures, stomping grapes, and performing pump-overs and punch-downs. His favorite wine is our 2018 Estate Nikiara.
Lisa is a great addition to the team. While she has only been here since March of 2021, she has been in the wine industry for ten years. She has a big heart and loves Italy which makes Le Vigne a perfect home for her. She loves to bring a family feel and personal connection to all her guests. Lisa just rescued a 2-year-old Maltese dog named, Bella. We can’t wait for her to bring Bella by the tasting room for us all to meet. Our 2018 Estate Malbec and 2018 Estate Merlot are tied for Lisa’s favorite wine.
Our new cheese guru is Angela. She has been around Le Vigne since she was a little girl because her dad is our in-house Vineyard Expert. Angela has grown up in the world of wine and cheese, which makes her a great fit for our cheese department. She is the person we go to for beautiful cheese and charcuterie boards. Angela is also taking classes to earn an education in Wine and Viticulture! We look forward to her bright future in this industry.
Our newest addition is Shelley. She is born and raised in Templeton which gives her an extensive knowledge of the Central Coast. Shelley is the go-to person for dinner and lodging recommendations. She loves to go on hikes with her dog and is newly engaged! We are excited to pop a bottle of our Le Vigne Sparkling wine with her in celebration. Her favorite wine is our 2015 Estate Cuore Della Vigna.
That wraps up our tasting room team. Just know regardless of which person pours for you they all follow the Filippini’s lead to provide excellent service and treat everyone like family. From the front of the house to the back of the house, everyone at Le Vigne performs their tasks with the love for our guests at the forefront of our minds. We all hope to see you here on your next visit to Paso Robles. We recommend coming now when the leaves have turned, and the air has cooled. It is a peaceful time of year!
